The Phoenix Zoo is looking for some help with its haunts at Howl-O-Ween, the Zoo's annual Halloween event. This year the event is on October 26 and 27. Below are some cool roles

Cannibal’s Feast Victims
Check-In Time: 4:00 p.m.
Shift Time: Friday and Saturday 6 - 10:30 p.m.
Haunt description: Something ‘s cooking in the Land of Dragons and you are invited to the feast. As you walk the path of the victims, you’ll realize that this chef has a disturbing taste for human flesh. Better move quickly… you don’t want to end up as dessert!
Position Description: Need 2 volunteers to dress as “blood soaked, sweaty victims” who will struggle to break free from the killer’s creepy lair.
Attire A: Volunteers are welcome to come dressed in their own clothes – victims should look disheveled with torn, blood spattered garments. Costumes must be Zoo appropriate – Not too revealing, no offensive symbols or wording. No weapons.
Attire B: Costumes and make-up provided by the Zoo. Please arrive wearing all black.

Zombie Rave
Check-In Time: 4:00 p.m.
Shift Time: Friday and Saturday 6 - 10:30 p.m.
Haunt description:
Join us for this gory, gruesome dance party where the walking dead have become the raving dead. The pounding beat will make you want to dance… but the brain eating zombies will make you want to scream!
Position Description: Volunteers in this role will dress as either zombie ravers (ie. rave kids that have turned to zombies already). Also needed “rave kids” who are dancing blocking the pathway for guests – occasionally letting out terrified screams. Zombie’s will be expected to groan and moan looking for brains, try to grab passersby (but no touching!), pretend to chew on body parts found on the road. Fog machines, glow sticks, lasers and dance music will help enhance the overall effect of chaos.
Attire A: Zombie volunteers are welcome to come dressed in their own costumes and make-up mentioned above. Zombie Volunteers are also encouraged to wear makeup that imitates rotting flesh, visible bones, blood and guts, etc. Costumes must be Zoo appropriate – Not too revealing, no offensive symbols or wording.
Raver kids should come as ...rave kids!
Attire B: Costumes and make-up will be provided by the Zoo. Please arrive wearing all black and closed toe shoes.

House of Hazards Construction Workers
Check-In Time: 4:00 p.m.
Shift Time: Friday and Saturday 6 - 10:30 p.m.
Haunt description: Watch your step as you traverse a construction zone that’s gone HORRIBLY wrong. Was it operator error or just bad luck? These blood-soaked cautionary tales will make you want to reread the safety manual on your power tools and heavy equipment!
Position Description: Volunteers will be dressed up as construction workers. You can play either a dismembered victim or a shocked worker trying to find help This area will be over the top gory and goofy. Volunteers should have high energy and a great (yet dark) sense of humor!
Attire: Volunteers should come dressed in their own costumes. Construction workers – jeans, long sleeve shirts, tool belts, hard hats, work boots if you have them! Please no offensive symbols or wording on shirts. Closed toed, comfortable shoes/ boots are required
Attire for victims - Gory makeup will be provided by the Zoo.

Twisted Fairytales Mascots
Check-In Time: 4:00 p.m.
Shift Time: Friday and Saturday 6 - 10:30 p.m.
Haunt description:
Once upon a time there was a Howl-O-Ween haunt that featured your favorite fairytales with a terrifying twist! Flesh eating dwarves, insane Cinderella and three crazed, rabid pigs are just a few of these frightening fables brought to life.
All volunteers who will be wearing mascot costumes will have a handler to assist in movement and breaking them as needed.
Position Description: Fairytale mascots will don a variety of rented costumes – they will each be assigned a handler whose main purpose will be to assist mascots with movement and taking breaks. Attire costumes provided by Zoo.

Twisted Fairytales Handlers
Check-In Time: 4:00 p.m.
Shift Time: Friday and Saturday 6 - 10:30 p.m.
Haunt description:
Once upon a time there was a Howl-O-Ween haunt that featured your favorite fairytales with a terrifying twist! Flesh eating dwarves, insane Cinderella and three crazed, rabid pigs are just a few of these frightening fables brought to life.
Position Description: Mascot handlers will be assisting mascots as its difficult to move in costume. You will stay close to them but not interfere with activity. Most importantly you will assist them to take breaks and most importantly get water.
Attire A: Volunteers may wear all black with closed toed shoes.
Attire B: Mid -1800’s costumes will be provided by the Zoo. Please arrive wearing all black and closed toe shoes.

Freak Out Sideshow
Check-In Time: 4:00 p.m.
Shift Time: Friday and Saturday 6 - 10:30 p.m.
Haunt description:
Get your freak on at this shocking display of human oddities. You will be a part Show schedule
7:30 p.m. | 8:30 p.m.| 9:30 p.m.
Position Description: Volunteers in this role will dress either as freakshow carnival barkers, scary creepy clowns, or human oddities such as a bearded lady or conjoined twins!!
Attire A: Volunteers are welcome to come dressed in their own costumes and make-up mentioned above.
Attire B: Costumes and make-up will be provided by the Zoo. Please arrive wearing all black and closed toe shoes.
