YouTube Science! Part 5 - Flame Tube!

I have had a Ruben's Tube for 9-10 years now. It is fantastic!

The biggest drawback with this device is wind. If you are outside, wind really wreaks havoc on your show! Inside, or with it shielded, it's no problem.

The second biggest drawback is the heat will eventually melt the latex membrane - AKA balloon. The usual recommendation is to keep the shows 5 minutes or less to avoid this. I have been able to go 15 minutes without losing the membrane, but your results may vary. The "tube" I use is thick-walled and intended to be used as a fencepost, so that may be increasing the amount of time before it heats up too much. Lots of folks use pretty thin stuff meant for ducts.

It's a pretty spectacular show for a party.

Happy Haunting!
