    This is one of the scarecrows from this year's DryRot Gulch. The head and torso are paper mache, with a blindfold of faux barb wire.

    I just got a copy of SCARECROWS by Avon Neal and Ann Parker. I first heard about this book from the Pumpkinrot Blog. When I admire someone's work, I want to be inspired by them, but even more, to be inspired by what inspired THEM! I guess I'm like Jon Favreau in that one small way. Mr. Favreau created the wildly popular series "The Mandalorian" in large part by going back to the Samurai and Western movies that inspired George Lucas.

  5. YouTube Science! Part 5.5 - Flame Table!

    If you take a Flame Tube and square it, what do you get?



    Flame Table!
    Definitely on my bucket list, this thing is even more spectacular than the tube. The big drawback here seems to be that you have to be above it to get the full effect. This makes it more of a thing for a group of folks standing around a firepit than watching a show form a distance.

    Still, it's pretty sweet looking, and a sure hit at a Halloween
