  1. The Shadow Knows

Who knows what evil lurks in the hearts of men? The Shadow knows.

Sure, we all pay attention to the lighting, but how many of us ALSO give thought to casting shadows?

I know in my own haunt, I have used lighting to illuminate tombstones in the front, while casting those behind in shadow where more subtle lighting could be effective.

I've never treated it like a "character" ...

  2. Haunted House or House of Horror?

One of the joys of writing a blog no one reads is I can ponder what I like. Something that has been on my mind a lot the past few months is why so many "haunts" are not actually haunt related.

Even in full light it was a hit. It was, as you may know, my first real attempt to go "all out" on a costume.
This picture was taken by the late Grant Brummett.

  5. Meow Wolf

I had the chance to visit/experience Meow Wolf in Santa Fe a couple months back. Meow Wolf is an immersive experience that has been billed as "the ultimate psychedelic playground". It's a 22,000 square foot warehouse filled with bizarre imagery and unusual architecture. There is a story behind it, which you can either sense as you walk through, or actively ferret out through the meticulously ...
